Plan’s IdentityPlan is an international humanitarian, child-centered, development organization, without religious, political or governmental affiliation. Child sponsorship is the basic foundation of the organization. Nearly 70 Years Ago and TodayPlan’s roots trace back to 1937, when two British journalists began working to assist children orphaned during the Spanish Civil War. In 1940s, with the outbreak of the Second World War, Plan extended its work to include displaced children within war-torn Europe. In 1950s, with the need in Europe reduced, Plan looked further afield for children who would benefit from its work. We gradually began working with deprived children throughout Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. OUR VISIONThe vision of Plan is of a world in which all children realize their full potential in societies which respect people’s rights and dignities. OUR MISSION
